Soviet Microsoft: Stockholm Syndrome Among Unswitchable Windows Users

This crap is getting ridiculous. First Microsoft is the Soviet Union, and now anyone who does not agree with the “Microsoft is an evil empire” crowd and switch to inferior desktop environments such as Linux, or closed, over-priced systems like Mac (both of which I like in the right context, and both of which I have developed software on) is obviously mentally impaired and suffering from Stockholm Syndrome.

People, get a freaking life. This is bloody software, nothing more. If you like it, buy it and use it. If you don’t like it, DON’T. Either way, stop playing amateur psychologist, political analyst, or whatever else you are playing, and please, please, please STFU.

  1. “I am absolutely sick of listening to people whine about Microsoft. Get over it.”

That isn’t going to happen when M$ keeps creating crap like Vista 😉

  2. Thanks for the response – though I am not sure what a “myspace-like rant” is, never having wasted any time on MySpace, but I assume it was an attempt at an insult.

My point is, this IS only software. It is not world-shaking stuff. Comparing it in any way to millions of people who suffered and died under oppressive regimes is inaccurate, innappropriate, and insulting to them. There are alot more important things in the world which need to be addressed.

If you do not like MS, do not use their stuff. If other people choose to, that is their business.

I am absolutely sick of listening to people whine about Microsoft. Get over it.

  3. Hey Fred, thanks for the link.

If you’re abused by your vendor, can’t leave, and make excuses for why you’d rather stay chained than examine options, it’s not just software, it’s a torn psyche.

An if you’ve been a professional for 20 years and are posting this kind of myspace-like rants, maybe you need to lay off the coffee or get laid.
